Lubbock COVID update 09-16-20

The Lubbock health department report 108 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 415 more recoveries Wednesday. 113 people have died from the virus.

There are currently 2,523 active cases and 7,408 recoveries.

During the city's weekly COVID-19 update Dr. Ron Cook pointed out flu season is now spreading around the city. He encourages everyone to get a flu shot.

76 people are being treated for COVID-19 in a Lubbock hospital, including 33 people in an ICU.

107,403 tests have been administered in Lubbock County, with an overall positivity rate of about 10.7 percent. These testing figures include people who traveled to Lubbock for a screening. Their case count is reported in their home county's figures.

For Texas Tech home football games, those wishing to have a tailgate off of the university campus, must follow guidelines set by the City of Lubbock. For outdoor tailgate events with 10-49 participants, a Small Tailgate Approval Checklist must be submitted. 

An outdoor tailgating event with an anticipated 50 participants or more must submit a separate plan for consideration by the Mayor of the City of Lubbock detailing how safety concerns regarding COVID-19 will be addressed.

These plans should be submitted to lubbocksafe@mylubbock.us a minimum of five days prior to the event for approval.
