LUBBOCK, Texas – A familiar face to Red Raider men's tennis program will be returning to the McLeod Tennis Center as head coach Daniel Whitehead announced Thursday that Jackson Cobb will join his staff as a volunteer coach.
A 2020 May graduate with a degree in mechanical engineering, Cobb concluded his playing career with 26 victories on the singles side and 60 in doubles action across all competitions. He was a participant in the 2017 ITA All-America Doubles Championships and reached a ranking of No. 29 with playing partner Alex Sendegeya. Cobb's 14 wins at the No. 2 doubles slot in dual match play currently ranks as the ninth-most in program history.
"We are excited to bring Jackson back in a coaching role with this team," Whitehead said. "He has had tremendous success in four years playing as a Red Raider and his success has come from a passion for the team and learning how to win through valuable experience. These two attributes and simply having another coach to work with the guys each week and in matches will definitely have a big impact for us this season."
Cobb will officially join the program in January of 2021.
