LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball player and three-time All-American Vivian Gray has once again earned Preseason All-Big 12 honors, the conference announced Wednesday. It is the third Preseason All-Big 12 honor of her career.
Gray was a unanimous preseason selection after earning First Team All-Big 12 accolades for the third straight season. The super senior finished the 2020-21 campaign fourth in the conference in scoring (19.8 ppg), eighth in rebounding (8.2 rpg), 10th in field goal percentage (.438) and fifth in blocked shots (1.6 bpg). She was the only power five player in the country to average 19+ points, 8+ rebounds and 2.5+ assists, earning her way to WBCA Coaches All-America Honorable Mention.
The Argyle, Texas native set career-highs in field goal percentage, rebounds and blocks during her first season in Lubbock. Gray led the Lady Raiders in points, rebounds, steals and blocks, while ranking second on the squad in assists.
Joining Gray on the Preseason All-Big 12 team are Queen Egbo (Baylor), NaLyssa Smith (Baylor), Lexi Donarski (Iowa State), Ashley Joens (Iowa State), Holly Kersgieter (Kansas), Ayoka Lee (Kansas State), Taylor Robertson (Oklahoma), Madi Williams (Oklahoma), Lauren Heard (TCU), Joanne Allen Taylor (Texas) and Esmery Martinez (West Virginia).
The 2021-22 Lady Raider basketball season tips off Thursday, Nov. 11 against Southeastern Louisiana at United Supermarkets Arena.
